Prosthetic hand
This was a lot of fun to build. Each finger is sprung with (official Lego) rubber bands, so that it is naturally straight. A string is held to the underside of each finger by two 3x3 L-shapes and a two stud axle. The strings then go to Lego tyres which fit on each fingertip. The whole hand is tightly held on to the wearer with brackets. The fun comes when the user bends a finger, hence puling a string, hence bending a finger. The movement is quite fluid, and the thumb and forefinger touch with enough force to enable me to pick up anything up to a golf ball in size and weight. I can also pick up something as small and delicate as a cigarette (don't smoke, kids).
Until I took it apart, this was the model I would bring out to show off my Lego. Everybody appreciated it as a cool toy, as well as Lego.
